Now that the temperature is quickly dropping and it’s officially fall, it’s time to break out the leather jackets and adorably chic vests. This season’s trends will not only spice up your wardrobe, but you probably already own one of this year’s staples, which include plaid, lug-sole booties, wrap coats, moto shearling jackets, and track pants.

Plaid not only applies to the classic blouse that is super cozy to wear on the weekend with leggings, but will also be featured this season on skirts, pants, and even coats. Free People has an amazing array of plaid-featured clothing; their mini skirts are on-point, and when paired with high knit socks, they are versatile pieces for your closet.

The lug-sole booties—a sturdy work boot type sole—are functional while fashionable. The juxtaposition that the booties offer would pair perfectly with black moto skinny jeans or a pencil skirt to elongate your legs. Black booties are my personal favorite because when paired with black tights, the monochromatic look makes you look a couple inches taller, even though the heel height already adds inches.

If you watch Scandal and are constantly inspired by Olivia Pope’s coats, then you are in luck. This season when it feels too chilly outside for your vest, throw on a wrap styled coat, which is constantly featured on the show. These coats have a belt that accentuate your waist and give you more of an hourglass figure. Pair your coat with a plaid scarf and you will be incorporating two fall trends in one outfit, or with an assortment of fall inspired colors, such as burgundy or hunter green extras.

Another favorite of mine this season is the moto shearling jacket. The moto inspired jacket offers a fresh new twist on the practical coat, making it the perfect addition to your wardrobe. This type of shearling jacket adds a cozy feel to the moto style, and would pair well with leather extras, such as real or faux leggings or skirts.

The athletic-inspired trends are still prevalent in fall fashion; the trend of track pants is one that is not only comfortable, but also chic. This style is a great alternative to skinny jeans because this essential can be styled multiple ways. Create a fancier look and pair these sporty trousers with a sleek button-down, or add a chunky knit sweater to complete your look.

There are so many exciting trends this fall to experiment with; not only will these styles be your essentials this fall, but they will certainly carry on to be repurposed in the winter. Whether you are dressing up or dressing down, there is something that you can incorporate into your wardrobe from this season’s newest fashions.
