Summer is everyone’s favorite season because of the burning hot sun, the roaring waves and, obviously, the much-appreciated lack of school –and homework. Of course, sadly all good things must come to an end, and by the time September rolls around the tans have faded and the books are back, giving fall the worst reputation. The end of summer is inevitable; however, here at the Feature section we believe that autumn is a blessing disguised in red, orange and green. Here are the top ten reasons for why we love the season Fall:
We know what you’re thinking- pumpkin spice lattes, that is epitome of “basic.” Regardless, they are delicious. This wonderful drink has been back on the Starbucks menu since September 8, and every since then, let’s admit it, life has been slightly better. Stop by a local coffee shop or even make your own to get all the wonders that fall has to offer in one sip! If you are not a fan of the latte- don’t worry! You can have fun with the pumpkin in more than way.
Stop by a pumpkin patch and find the perfect one to carve silly faces on, or better yet, fill the house with that amazing pumpkin pie smell.
2. Halloween
Ever since I was old enough to walk Halloween had been my favorite holiday. I’m sure I’m not alone. Halloween was every kid’s dream come true: playing pretend and getting free candy- what else could you ask for? Don’t let high school stop you from reliving your prime trick-or-treat years –go anyway! Or, if you’re to embarrassed to do that, buy some awesome decorations and make yourself the most talked about house in the neighborhood. If that sounds like to much work, you can sit back and hand out candy to all the adorable, tiny, Elsas of the world and still be very satisfied.
3. Football
America’s favorite sport has come back in full swing this season. People of all kinds are united over jerseys, eye-black, chicken wings and anything else football related. From high school games to the NFL, we can’t think of anything more fall, or American, to make your Monday nights just a tiny bit better. And if you aren’t into the sport the ads during the Superbowl always make it worth it.
4. Apples
You can find this fruit almost anywhere, but it is overrated for good reason- especially when it comes to the fall months. From apple picking with friends to hot apple cider on a brisk day to fresh apple cinnamon donuts, this delicious fruit has definitely earned its spot on the why-we-love-this-season list. Make sure to get away from your Apple computer and taste the goodness sometime this fall!!
5. Haunted Houses
There has always been something beautifully creepy about autumn and haunted houses. New Jersey has been voted the most exciting state for haunted attractions- so since you live here, why not embrace it! Feeling bored? Stop by a haunted house to get your blood pumping and your scare on- in the most amazing way possible!
6. Thanksgiving
This is a holiday that combines everything we love: food, family and football. It’s a day we all come together, put our differences aside and enjoy life. From “Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving” special to the Macy Day’s Parade, to amazing leftovers there’s nothing really not to love. And if all that’s not pleasing there’s always Black Friday and Cyber Monday and who doesn’t love a good sale.
All in all, fall is a great season. So, quit dreaming about summer, breathe in the crisp air, and jump into an array of colored leaves. You’ll thank me for it!
