You might have already realized it, but if you haven’t…our phones are taking over. They have ruined our face-to-face connections with our friends and families. A young man, Tyler Tamburino, realized this trend and watched it pass right in front of him. He decided to put his thoughts out there with hopes of changing some people’s perspectives and realizing how they are living, as a wake-up call to reality, and the foundations of the social aspects of life.

Tyler expressed his opinion and inspiration in a captivating way through a video called Don’t Take It Off The Charger (available on his YouTube channel) . He starts the video in a damp lit car garage, a young man telling a story. The story is about how a boy whose mom has a hard and low paying job, and is crying and angry at her for not getting him the new iPhone for his birthday. Then he dives in depth into why this makes people “greedy and awful,” and how we spend too much time scrolling and scrolling on our phones. “I find it sad that we would rather be talking to our lowlife friend on Tumblr instead of talking face to face with our mothers, and then wondering why we have no friends and stayed inside all summer.” This is what makes the world greedy and awful; not spending time with your loved ones while they are still around.

Tyler is now working on another video addressing another societal problem and will be releasing it soon. He has already informed and inspired so many people, including people he doesn’t know. So, in his exact words, “The next time your phone dies leave it on the charger, don’t , just don’t take it off that d**n charger.”
