Behind the Scenes: The True Life of an NA Student

By Sanya Bery’17, Feature Editor

Summer has come and gone, reduced to only distant memories buried deep in our brain beneath math formulas and chemical compound structures. After the first week or two of the fall semester, we begin to adjust to a six-day cycle and the patterns of school more generally. Students at NA are well-rounded, promising, and hard working. However, keep reading to discover what the average life of an NA student is really like.

1. You wake up and rack your mind for an excuse not to go to school.

Physically getting out of bed takes all the energy you have, and eating breakfast, putting on clothes or doing any ordinary task feels like running a marathon.

2. But then you get there… and don’t regret coming at all!

Dr. D makes his occasional joke, Film Appreciation club has a meeting after school and everything suddenly seems okay.

3. Yet, first period rolls around and it seems like people are speaking a different language…

Don’t worry; you aren’t the only one who doesn’t get it. Meet a teacher after class, or talk to a friend to clear everything up; you’ll get there, we promise!

4. And you’re so exhausted by all this “learning” that you stuff all the food you see into your mouth.

There’s a reason why the cafeteria is open for two hours…

5. After that great meal you force yourself into the library, power up Canvas and…

you’re in your zone.

6. Then, suddenly it’s 2:30 and you go to your favorite club meeting and you agree with everything and feel inspired and it’s just…

7. And by 3:10 you’re either on the field or on the stage,

reminding yourself it’s all over by 5:30 and you will be able to survive…

8. but on the ride home you forget how tired you have been the entire day…

9. and then it starts all over again…

but it’s going to be okay.
