Back to the Future Shoes!

By Vyom Singh ‘23, Staff Writer

When you first saw the self-lacing shoes that  Marty McFly wears in Back to the Future ll, you thought, “ I need those shoes!” Now they are available to buy! Well… not really. You can enter in a raffle for ten dollars. (The proceeds of the raffle go to a good cause. To be exact, the Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson’s research.) will offer a chance to win the new Nike Mags. Why would you want anything like this? Besides their looks, they can also help a lot of people with foot conditions. When athletes are playing their sport, their shoelaces are always tight. Even when they are done with their sport, their shoelaces are tight. You may not think that this is a problem, but for many athletes, the blood flow in their feet gets restricted. This can cause severe foot conditions. The Nike Mags are self lacing shoes that work with the push of a button that are in the inside of the shoe, or automated sensors in the shoe that can sense your weight. The shoes work with a motor inside the shoe that is beneath your heel. This motor is attached to belts made out of high strength fishing line that attach to the laces. The shoe can automatically sense your weight and how big your feet are and they automatically bring the shoe’s laces to a tight, comfortable fit perfect for athletes and people walking. If you don’t like that, you can manually adjust the laces with two buttons. The shoes even light up, and the bottom of the shoes and the Nike symbol light up. This tech is only available for raffle right now, but we expect to see these available to buy pretty soon. The price is expected to be a bit high, but at least they’re not Yeezys! That’s your triannual geek! Stay tuned for more!
