WARNING: Marvel puns ahead.
Recently, Marvel Studios has been a juggernaut at the box office. With movies like The Avengers and its sequel, Age of Ultron, grossing $623,357,910 and $459,005,868 respectively, it’s no surprise that the House of Ideas is already prepared for the next 9 years. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming swinging into theaters on May 5th and July 7th, how will the Marvel Cinematic Universe move forward? For starters, Marvel is planning to take out the major roles of Iron Man (Tony Stark), Captain America (Steve Rogers), and Thor (Thor) in the MCU, and replacing them with Black Panther (T’Challa) Doctor Strange (Stephen Strange) and Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers, also known as the upcoming strongest hero in the MCU). With T’Challa and Stephen Strange already having their roles introduced to viewers, all that’s left is Carol Danvers, who has her own movie coming in 2019. As we move closer to Infinity War Parts I and II, speculation has also popped up about the deaths of characters in the movies, such as fan favorites like Nick Fury, Hawkeye, and Loki. Marvel has made bold decisions like this in the past, most notably the deaths of Agent Paul Coulson and Quicksilver, but due to fan outcry, Coulson’s death was quickly reversed.
So what’s next? All things considered, we’re in for one wild ride from now until 2028.
