In fair Verona where we lay our scene. That line was taken from the play that was performed by the middle school. Yep, you guessed it. The middle school this year put on a production of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is a classic, but the middle school decided to spice things up with a new contemporary version of the play. The play featured three narrators that helped the audience follow along meanwhile they added a little bit more comedy to the tragic play. The crew started off right after they got off from spring break and worked hard for the next six weeks. Rehearsal ran from 2:30-4:30 and the kids worked hard to learn their parts, and become one with their new stage persona. The end of their work resulted in three productions of the play. The play was a big success. The play had a wonderful set designed by Joey Yow, and was built by him and stage crew workers Stella Gilbert and Sydney Chang. It featured a hexagonal fountain and a beautiful backdrop covered in leafy vines. There was a long stage that was also built, for grand dance scenes, intense sword fights, and heartbreaking love scenes. The stage was also abused by the falling of dead bodies. At the end of the final production the crew gave out gifts and speeches to the various high schoolers that helped with the production. The cast finished it off with a song.
The play was really great
And we all appreciate
How much you helped us along the way
So we just wanted to sayyyyyyy….
Elizabeth, your work with props
Really put this show over the top…
And Mr. Yow, your set was perfect
It just made the whole thing worth it
Claire and Haniya your costumes were so grand
They helped the audience understand
Who the characters really are
You made everyone look like a star
Silvy and Micaela you helped so much
We all needed lots of help with lines and such
Maddie your sound work was so good
We wish we could eat more of your food

When u would demonstrate acting, we were always gazing

Ms. Brodie, your producing was so incredible
When you gave us notes, we knew they were credible
Mrs. Shapiro Cooper last but not least
All that you’ve done is an incredible feat
And Thank you everyone, thank you for coming
Now the show is over, it’s no longer running.
But we had so much fun
And now that it’s done….
We’re anxiously waiting
And anticipating
Next year’s SHOWWWWW!!!!
So when wondering whether you should do the play. You definitely should. As you can see the kids were really passionate and I had a blast being in it. I hope to see more kids join next year.
