As fall is coming to a close, there are still a few of us left who aren’t already listening to Christmas music, watching Christmas movies, and wishing for the cold weather to come full force. Some of us are trying to savor the views of the fall and the crisp crunch of the leaves under our feet. While we can’t make the fall season last forever, there are still a few places that are making it a little bit easier…through their menus. If you’re that person who is always looking for something pumpkin flavored or “fall reminiscent,” these are the best places to go to hold on to fall for just a bit longer.
- Playa Bowls

Playa Bowls debuted their fall flavored bowls for the first time this fall, and in my opinion, they were a hit. Whether it’s a seasonal smoothie, playa bowl, or an oatmeal bowl, you are guaranteed a yummy fall flavor. The flavors ranged from Caramel apple, Pumpkin, and Harvest (composed of bananas, cranberries, dried figs, coconut flakes, almonds, and cinnamon). Their pumpkin smoothie, considered one of their best sellers,is made with banana, pumpkin granola, pumpkin spice, vanilla, and almond milk. A recent addition to the menu, the oatmeal bowls, also come in fall flavors like pumpkin and maple walnut. Some locations have recently also introduced soup, which can be found in flavors like chicken chili, broccoli cheddar, purple sweet potato, pumpkin, and butternut squash. While Playa bowls has kept these fall flavors around for a longer period of time, they won’t be here forever. Locations close to Newark Academy include Summit, Millburn, Morristown, Montclair, Newark, and Hoboken.
2. South + Pine (Morristown, NJ)

For healthier brunch, lunch, and dinner options, South + Pine, located on South Street in Morristown, is a great restaurant for a filling meal close to home. While they are not particularly noted for their seasonal options, they do have some great fall foods which you’re unlikely to find anywhere else. Some of their seasonal dishes include red curried pumpkin soup, a fall fritto misto, sweet potato waffles with honey, and a spaghetti squash dish with roasted garlic butter. While this is the most sophisticated restaurant on the list, it is by no means fancy.
3. Committed Pig (Summit and Morristown, NJ)

If you’re looking for some quality pumpkin pancakes, The Committed Pig is the place for you. While they have other fall specials, it is safe to say their pumpkin pancakes are especially notable. They are served all day long, so you can start or end your day on a delicious fall note. If you’re looking to further savor fall through the scenery, both locations offer outdoor seating so you can sit outside and enjoy the few fall days left in the year.
4. The Cheesecake Factory

If you’re looking for a good slice of pumpkin or pumpkin pecan cheesecake close to home, the Cheesecake Factory at the Short Hills Mall or in the Bridgewater Commons is your best bet. It will only stay on the menu for a few more weeks before it disappears until next season. Plus, the Cheesecake Factory will donate 25 cents for every slice purchased to “Feeding America,” a hunger relief organization.
5. Momofuku Milk Bar

If you’re looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth, Momofuku Milk Bar has locations all over New York City. While they are best known for their delicious cereal flavored ice cream and cake truffles, their fall items are sure to leave you satisfied. Their seasonal cake flavors include apple pie, pumpkin dulce de leche cake, and salted caramel pretzel. If you’re looking for something a bit more manageable, their milkshakes and truffles both come in the pumpkin dulce de leche flavor as well.
