Gotham (FOX)/The Flash (The CW):

Gotham, a riveting show that dives into the origin stories of various characters of the Batman franchise, and The Flash, which follows the adventures of the titular superhero, have both shown solid ratings so far. Both shows appeal to a niche audience of superhero fans, a fan base which is rapidly growing with the onset of dozens of Marvel/DC movies which have come out over the past five years. For those interested in delving into the lives of their favorite characters from the DC universe, these two shows are perfect for you.

Red Band Society (FOX):

For those looking for a more lighthearted show, Red Band Society should be worth giving a try. There are not many great new comedies this fall, but this new “dramedy” (drama/comedy) is produced by Steven Spielberg, the director behind various classic films such as E.T., Jurassic Park, and Jaws. The show follows the relationships formed by a group of teenagers living in the pediatric ward of a hospital. For those confused about the tone of the series, think “Orange is the New Black“: the show does include heavier and more substantial plotlines, while still sprinkling in some humor to keep the mood lighthearted.
