How-To: Fall Fashion 2015, NA Edition

by Erin Eagle ’17, Staff Writer

School is finally back in session, and yes, your outfit will make a difference in how you feel on a dreary Monday morning. While picking out an outfit in the morning can be tiring, getting dresscoded by Ms. Galvin is not ideal either. It is important to maintain your unique style, while staying appropriate and classy for school. Where will you find the right balance? Intertwine fall trends with your own dress- code friendly style and you will be indeed school-ready! Here are the top 5 must-have trends for the fall:

1. Fringe

From shirts, to shoes, to accessories, to jackets, to skirts, fringe is everywhere! You can incorporate clothing with these classic long threads into your style through any piece of your clothing.

2. Sporty Clothing

You don’t need to play a sport to wear a varsity jacket! And you don’t need to go to a sports game to wear a jersey. Be creative! There are so many ways to glam up your sporty looks, which are completely in dress code! As seen in the picture, Tiana Barkley ‘17 rocks her varsity jacket, looking both trendy and sporty on an early Friday morning!

3. Plaid

Any type of plaid garment can finish off an outfit this fall! Flannels, for example, can bring some color to your plain white tee, and can add some style to your basic outfit. They are perfect for days when the chilly fall weather really kicks in. As shown in the photos, plaid can be worn by both girls and boys.

4. Leather:

Leather, leather, and more leather! Rock your faux leather jacket and you will definitely look edgy for school. Take it a step further: leather skirts are a huge must-have for the fall. Isabelle Catabran ’17 looks so fashionable in her leather jacket, with a sheer lace shirt, jeans, and boots to tie the outfit together.

5. Preppy Combinations

Walk around the hallway, and this trend will be pretty clear! Vineyard Vines, in particular, is a typical Newark Academy trend that will add a pop of color to your outfit! While the NA-friendly outfit below can only be worn when shorts are permitted, wearing colorful pants is definitely a great alternative, too.

It is so easy to find fashion inspiration in our own community! On the next school day, look around to see if you notice anyone wearing one of the trends listed here, or even a trend that you like. Newark Academy students and teachers are constantly rocking the latest trends: sometimes, without even knowing it! You probably are too, but if you are not noticing the trends quite yet, you will be sure to notice them soon! Be creative, find inspiration, and dress to impress.

A final tip: pick your outfits at night because you’ll be too tired to choose wisely when you wake up! Feel free to alter these looks to your own liking, but most of all, remember to be creative when choosing your outfits. Tune in later for the upcoming trends for the winter.
